All-New 1967 Mustang Convertible Body!
Written by Administrator     Saturday, 31 December 2011 18:09

Dynacorn International, manufacturer of the ’67 convertible body, worked to not only replicate the original ’67 convertible, but make it better.  With thicker sheet metal and stronger welds holding the whole shell together it makes the decision really hard to use the one you already have or have a fresh start with this new one.  Because of auctions like Barrett Jackson the price of these classics are through the roof!  We have a 67 couple in our personal line up and I can tell you when we restored it 15 years ago it was hard to find a chassis that the rear sub frame was not rotted out.  Now with these new bodies it's so easy to go and pick one up and start fresh.  Our hats are off to Dynacorn and Ford Restoration Parts for bring back the most sought after Mustang, the 67 is back!
  • Restorers can now build a “new” 1967 Mustang convertible with an all-new steel body

  • The ’67 Mustang convertible body is stronger than the original and can be outfitted with Ford’s big-block engines

  • With nearly 8.5 million built since first debuting in 1964, the Ford Mustang is America’s longest selling four-seat sports car

Bergstrom & DeWitt Join NMCA WEST!
Written by Administrator     Friday, 23 December 2011 19:58

Santa Ana, CA – ProMedia announced today that Gene Bergstrom will be expanding his role by assuming the duties of General Manager of the NMCA WEST Coast Street Car Series, sponsored by Flowmaster Exhaust Systems. Bergstrom will continue to serve as director of event operations for the NMRA and NMCA but also will now assume the responsibility of leading as well as overseeing ProMedia’s west coast division as general manager effective immediately stated NMCA WEST president, Charlie Harmon. “Gene’s west coast experience as a racer, track operator, NHRA division director and executive will serve him well in his additional capacity,” Harmon said.

Bergstrom spent 21-years as an employee of the NHRA, in a variety of positions including serving as the northwest regional director for a decade, followed by serving as director of field operations for the NHRA. Bergstrom has also managed several racetracks throughout his long career.

“I have spent the majority of my life around race tracks,” Bergstrom said. “I’m excited that me, and my wife Judy, will have an opportunity to be a part of ProMedia’s west coast initiative. We did not truly realize what kind of demand there was on the west coast for our style of events until our NMRA/NMCA Fontana event last July. Our sponsors, racers and fans demanded more events, and I’m happy we are going able to deliver.  There will be challenges as there are with any start-up series but I’m confident that we have assembled a team that will lead us to success,” said Bergstrom.

ProMedia’s event division has also added Huey Dewitt Jr. to its staff. Dewitt will serve in the newly created position of NMRA/NMCA events coordinator. Dewitt comes from a rich drag racing background lasting more than 25 years, where he has either driven or crewed on a number of west coast entries. “ProMedia is now producing 18 events annually, the most in company history,” says Harmon. “It was imperative that we bring someone onboard to support our event division and we are so fortunate to have found a true enthusiast such as Huey to join our event team. His knowledge, enthusiasm and intimacy with street car drag racing increase his value to ProMedia especially here on the west coast.”

“It is a dream to have a full time opportunity to do something I really enjoy,” Dewitt said. “I’m really excited about joining ProMedia and helping broaden its scope both on the east and west coasts. I’m anxious to begin with the new year and help raise awareness across the county to the NMCA and NMRA brand,” Dewitt concluded. Huey will report directly to Trey Capps, director of events for ProMedia and will begin his duties on January 3, 2012.

BMR Suspension announces PRI Bushing game winner!
Written by Administrator     Sunday, 18 December 2011 13:25

At the 2011 PRI show in Florida this past december BMR had a tall cylinder fillled with bushings in it at their booth.  The person to guess exactly how much was in it got $1000 gift card to spend at BMR or the closest guess got a $500 gift card to spend.  A few days a got we got an email from BMR suspension stating that our very own president and CEO Chad Houghton has won $500 in gift cards.  Chad participated in the contest by stopping by the booth Saturday.  When the staff at BMR tallied the bushings at their shop they determined that Chad had the guess (1836) to the closest number of the bushings in the cylinder (1837).  " I walked up to the booth and people where trying to determine the amount with mathematical equations and I just looked it up and down and said 1836, the staff member looked at me and said are u serious?  He then entered my guess in the contest.

We would like to thank the staff at BMR for putting on a great display and a fun game that had everyone coming by to take a crack at the count.

Flowmaster to Sponsor All-New NMCA WEST Street Car Series!
Written by Administrator     Monday, 28 November 2011 00:00

NMCA West Coast

“The west coast drag racing and muscle car scene has been asking the NMCA to produce high-quality motorsport events for years,” said Charlie Harmon, president of ProMedia Events.  “Flowmaster’s partnership with NMCA WEST, along with major support from our core sponsorship base, will contribute to great racing classes and a world class contingency program.  Combine great competition with the media exposure NMCA attracts and you will see west coast drag racing take off and go to the next level.”

"Flowmaster is excited to become the title sponsor of the NMCA WEST Street Car series for the next two years,” stated Nate Shelton, chief marketing officer of B&M Racing & Performance that includes Flowmaster, Inc.  “The NMCA WEST Street Car Series sponsorship just seemed like a natural for our brands to further enhance our connection with racers, both those who know Flowmaster and those who need to learn about what we offer.  We view racing as one of the best ways to engage the racers at the track to find out how to further improve Flowmaster exhaust products to control sound with no loss of engine power or torque. We have always supported those customers who have us for so many years by loyal purchase of our products. This racing series just gives us one more opportunity to do so.”

Fun Ford Facts

It took many months of development by Henry Ford and his engineers before the Model N was finally completed.  Throughout 1905 and 1906 Ford wanted to design a four cylinder automobile that could sell for $500.  By the fall of 1906 the Bellevue Ave plant was assembling 100 engines a day.  Henry wanted to manufacture ten thousand Model N's a year and that put the Piquette plant in overdrive trying to produce the finished product as fast as they could.  When the Model N went on sale the newspapers and Magazines gave raved reviews over the Model N.  The advertising message that was used for the Model N was, "There are alot more poor people then wealthy people.  We'll just build one car for the poor people."  During a  publicity campaign for the model N in 1906 it stated that Henry Ford idea was to build a high grade, practical automobile at a reasonable price.  The public responded!  Sales of the Model N in 1906-07 climbed to 8423 cars.  Thats more than 5 times the company's previous record in a span of twelve months.
